Default Looks like Bud's just had a widespread price increase !!!

Was looking at some Smiths this afternoon on there.

Couldn't sleep tonight so logged back on with my iPhone and see these same guns just went up $45.

That really bites.

Most every Smith wheelgun I've looked at on there tonight has been increased significantly.

It sucks to watch this happen right before you eyes. Same exact guns go up 6% within an hour's time.

Arghhhhhhhh!!!!

Okay, I'm done now. Deep breath and all that.

I'll just try to find a local ffl with no overhead to do orders for me.

Yeah, I noticed this earlier. Actually, several months ago I noticed a price increase on Rugers, too.

This was a widespread jump of 2-7% on most of the guns I've looked at....occured sometime yesterday between 4:00pm and 11:30pm.

Inflation, guys.. inflation.

However, the prices of new wheel guns (and other fine handguns) is not really that high. I shot about four cases of 38 special so far this year in my new S&W 327 M&P R8 (new as of Christmas) which damn near cost me about the same amount that I paid for the revolver.

If you compare the cost of buying a new revolver, even a Performance Center wheelgun it is not that much when compared to the ammo to feed it.

I understand inflation and I agree about the o erwhelming ammo cost.

You have to pay to play and all that.

I've bought 4 guns from Buds this year and have been very pleased with them thusfar.

The thing about this that got to me was the cost didn't go up as they restocked inventory...the prices just jumped immediately on the current inventory with all the revolvers I've looked at there.

I was in my local pusher's lair a week or so back when I noticed he was re-pricing his 442 & 642 on display. He had just received six for the price of five - and changed the price from $449 to $399 - even on his existing stock. Add that $50 S&W rebate and it's quite a deal. Shop your local Ma/Pa stores - you might be shocked.

I don't claim to be an economist, but there hasn't been a lot of inflation in the economy in a while due in large part to the recession. In addition, the demand for guns and ammo seems to have slacked off some from where it was for a while there immediately following the '08 election. In fact, I've seen ammo and primer prices come down a bit, although not yet to pre '08 levels. Things like ARs are certainly more available and less expensive than they were for a while.

Seems like an odd time for businesses to increase prices, in the middle of a recession with no end in sight, minimal inflation, and demand slackening. I've not seen it locally, but maybe it's coming.

I do agree that the prices of revolvers generally seem pretty reasonable. 1911s, on the other hand, seem to me to cost about 50% more than they should, but it's been that way for a long time.

Thank you for that breath of fresh air! When demand is down, prices go down, not up. I think these goofballs need to go back to school and take Econ101. Six months from now we'll hear them crying about the bad economy and how nothing is selling. Well no kidding Einstein...

Yep, raise the prices to compensate for lack of sales. I hope we don't start seeing deflation, a downward spiral much worse than inflation, read some books on economics, scary stuff.

This sounds like Washington's economics, if sales are down, up the prices to make up for it.

I took a general look at GB and was surprised that a very large percentage of the auctions (like maybe 90%) don't have any qualifing bids at all - the ad runs it's course and the end result is no sale!

My local shop is smarter than that, he seems to be able to find some decent used items and buys them low enough to keep his prices down.

Is that new? That's my recollection of GB for all the years I've ever been to that site. Most of the stuff put up for auction has always been way, way overpriced and no one bids on it.

Sure, the economy as a whole, but the gun economy has done nothing but skyrocket since a year or two before Obama.

That seems acurate, but that doesn't mean they can't sustain a couple percent rise in prices. It's not like they were having any problem moving guns a couple months ago.

A few bucks more may not make much of a difference. I doubt it will. From what I see on message boards most gun buyers buy most whatever they get excited about and happily pay overmarket prices for what they want. 2-7% most posters won't even flinch at.
