Just picked up my 686-6 4" 7 round from Pawn shop
After 1 month hold on the gun and the 10 day background check on me, I just got to bring home my new to me 686P 4".
I accidently stumbled on this a month ago, it is a LNIB with all the goodies, manual, fired shell casing, box. I have done a few FFL transfers with this pawnshop, and when my FFL showed it to me last month, he made me an in house deal of $499.95 out the door, special price to me if I wanted it. And it is like brand new and seems to not have been fired a lot, if at all. The box even had the original moisture paper and the spent shell envelope has the date of 07-21-06 that the S&W tech signed. So that puts it a little over 4 years old but still basically brand new. I will give a range report when I take it out next week. Anyone who has one of these, feedback will be appreciated. I think I did real good on this score, what do you all think?
Thanks,

CONGRATS ! ! What an excellent deal. I have a 686-4 Mountain Gun and a coupla 686 no dash snubbies. The MG is a 4'' 7 shooter. One of my snubbies is at S&W waiting for the recall ''M'' and to have a 7 shot cylinder fitted to it. The 686 is a great gun. They are excellent shooters and very durable. I'm sure you will enjoy yours.......

ANY used 686 in my area would be a good deal at that price. Very smart purchase. 686's are shootin' machines.

You did great!. I live near you and a 686 now in California is in the $600 or more range. New 686 is at $799. I would like to see some pictures with your range report. By the way, what range do you go to?

I have the 2 1/2", 4" and 6" 686's. The 4" is my favorite to shoot by FAR. I'm just as accurate with the 4" as the 6", but the 4" seems to have a better balance for me.
It's hard to beat a 686 for accuracy and durability!
I'm sure you will really like it!

Outstanding gun, outstanding price. I have the exact same model, a few years older. Don't care for the lock, but haven't had any trouble with it. I couldn't tolerate the heavy factory trigger and so replaced the springs. Also installed night sights(mine's a home defense gun).
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Thanks Guys for the replies, I guess that a deal like the one he offered me doesn't come along every day. I took it home and cleaned it up it looks as good as my 6" I bought new. Soon as I get a way to get some pictures I will post them side by side and show her off.

I like those guns.
I'd love to have one here, at home, for us to use as another home defense gun. It'd also be a peach to shoot at the range.
Looking forward to seeing your pics.
