Price doesn't sound too crazy for a Performance Center.

The X frames can typically be great used gun finds since they rarely get more than a few rounds and there is not a high overall demand for these. Find one that has been moldering on a dealer's shelf and you can often strike up a great deal. That said, the 460 PC versions are great shooters and can really reach out there if you do your part. I would advise staying away from the braked versions. The guns are big and heavy and, with a 8-10" barrel, the brake is more of a nuisance and blast multiplier.

Having had the 6.5" half lug, a 6.5" PC, and a couple 8 3/8th in original Model 500s, I now only have two, the PC and an original. The half lug with its much lower weight and more aft balance was not a pleasant gun to shoot when compared with the others I've had.
Have no plans for a Bone Collector but all that weight forward will certainly moderate recoil. Don

Gee, I really like my 6.5 half lug, feels just like an oversized 29.

Not grousing about the gun itself, merely saying that loads that are pleasant to shoot in the heavier guns aren't so pleasant in the half lug. Don

Missed one
As the owner of a 460 I am always looking for ammo deals and I let one get by me yesterday. 200 rounds of 535 gr S&W 460 went for 26 cents on Gun Broker!!! Granted the bullet weight would make the load a beast but you can't get 200 22LR loads at that price!!!

Just think what the company could have sold these for if the marketing division, in the absence of adult supervision and following a night of heavy celebration, hadn't designed that ambiguous cartoon to go on the right side of the frame. Just whose bones are they proposing the owner collect?
What's next? "The Block Cracker" with one of those animated autos from the "Cars" movie lying on its side with X's for headlights and a busted engine block spilled out on the ground beside it? That'll sell a bunch.

I have one and am loving it. It puts my standard 500 to shame.
