Default What year was the M66 phased out?

I just bought a nice 66-7 with the round butt and the key lock, what was the last year Smith and Wesson made these? Its funny back in the day when I was a kid this was the hot gun, right up there with the M29. Anyway always wanted one for the right price and finally got a great deal on this one.

If my research is correct they were produced from 1977-2005.
This is from an internet source though so let's wait for a more experienced member's confirmation.

Thanks Murphy.
I hope you enjoy your purchase Doc, my '81 66-1 is one of my favorite handguns and one I will surely hold on to.
These guns aren't made for heavy diets of .357 but shoot great and in my opinion are one of the best combat revolvers made.

Well you got it half right, the 66 production ended 05, but was introduced 1970.
