What do you think? 25-5 for my 340PD
I have a guy wanting my 340PD. He wants to trade a Mod 25-5, B, TT, TS, TH, RR, WO, 8 3/8 bl, with box, docs, wrapping paper and gun sleeve along with all the tools.
It has some holster marks but is still a solid 95% on finish. It was carried and used for hunting hogs but not shot to many times. Faint cylinder line is all you can see. No dings on the stocks.
So what do you think, trade or not?
Oh yea, here is the S#: AZB47XX. So what year did this beast ship....I am thinking 87????

I'd have done that trade before the other guy finished the offer. Make it quick. 340's you can get anytime(although why escapes me at the moment) but a nice 25 doesn't come along every day. AND it'll be lots more fun to shoot.

The icing on the cake for that trade... is it is also a later issue 25-5 with the 3 letter & 4 number serial number, which is out of the relam of the oversized cylinder throat problem that plagued the earlier ones.
I'd guess 87/88 time frame too, if you have the full S/N call S&W and ask about the date.
Lose that 340PD before he has second thoughts about a trade.

The question I always ask myself in situations like that is which one can I NOT walk into a store and buy anytime I want?

Okay - I got it. I bought that 340 for my wife as her nightstand gun while I was in Afghanistan, but I bet she will enjoy shooting the 25-5 more. But - I sort of had to get her buy in. You all know the deal, happy wife - happy life!

Preach it brother - I am thinking the same now, and getting her/ (me) a 2" Model 60 pinned barrel with no dash. That would make her/ (me) very happy.

" Happy Wife--Happy Life ", you sir are way ahead of the game . That should be on a Hallmark Card.
Great choice , you'll love the 25-5--I have 3 of them and all are great pieces of workmanship.
