Several posts have suggested that High Velocity (Mini-Mag, Super-X Winchester, etc.) .22's have poor accuracy in light (alloy) snubbies. Does anybody know of a Standard Velocity round with copper plating (AKA copper coating, copper wash, Lubaloy)? I hate (really hate) plain lead because of fouling.
Thanks,
Buzz (cockerpoodle)
I do not know of a SV copper plated round. The Federal HV copper plated HP's in the bulk pack have a slightly lower velocity than the Remington Golden bullets. I stay away from the Remington Golden in revolvers. Don't know if that helps you.
That has not been my experience. Although I myself have had very good experience with CCI in general, the most common rule about rimfire ammo is that there are no rules. The strangest differences can be observed from one example of a particular model to the next, and the results are often not explainable. I once had a Model 61 that worked reliably only with Remington HSHP. This was at a time when most folks thought that CCI ammo was hotter than some others, and I was pretty sure that it was far more uniform. I have also had very good results with other guns with Blazer, which any thinking person would expect to be at least slightly inferior to other CCI SV ammo. Didn't seem so to me.
I'm pretty sure that you just have to try everything you can get your hands on, hope you observe the results correctly, and stock up on what works.
