Default DAO model 36?

I saw an interesting model 36 recently. The owner bought it used, but the story he got with it was that it was a factory gun. It was a 2" non-pinned barrel model with a three-letter-prefix (don't remember which ones) serial number, a DAO bobbed hammer, wide combat hammer, and a nice matte blue/black finish, kinda like the 2005 DAO model 37's. I can't remember now but I think it had uncle mike boots, and that it was marked model 36 (no dash). I don't see any mention of anything like this in the SCSW, anyone know about it?
I prefer pinned-barrels, but would probably make an exception for one like this. (and a matching DAO 37-2 if one was available, of course).

The Catalog lists three with a bobbed hammer, all made in 1989. 2,000 of each made. Sounds interesting. I was initially going to say it was probably altered, but then I checked. Learn somethin' new every day.
Show a pic if you can.

OK! I found the reference you mentioned, at the end of the model 36 section under "products codes & features by year". Looks like product codes 101520 & 101524 were both 2" DAO's. My copy of SCSW doesn't list production quantities.1989 s/n's were the three-letter series, so the gun I saw was probably one of these. Unfrtunately it was a one-time look, so I wn't be posting any photos.

Just did a little more googling, looks like it these 1989 DAO's were 36-2's?

I had one of the 3" versions for a while. Nice guns.

The one on gunbroker is nice, but IMHO wold look better & be more concealable with a set of uncle mike boots, or some fancy wood boots from spegel or someone.

That one pictured is a beautiful little gun. Sure a lot prettier than a Ruger LCR. Not knocking the Ruger, but they ain't much for beauty. I did not know they made a bobbed 36 until today. I have a -1 with the 3" barrel and square butt, and love it.

Pequod.
