Question about the S&W model 22 (new rendition of the classic 1917 revolver)
Since it is from the "N" frame family of the S&W revolvers, will any of Hogue's aftermarket grips for the "N" frame work for this pistol?
I am thinking of making this my next pistol!!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Grips need to be for an N frame and Square butt. As long as the grips are good for both you'll be fine.

My M 22-4 is square butt, and it has Hogues on it as I type this.....
Some of the classics are round butt, if I am not mistaken the 21-4's are round

Looks to me the N frame classics are all square butts (S&W Site 360 view). I heard awhile back on another forum, that they where all round butts & I just believed it. Cant always believe what you hear on the Internet.

Here is a model 22-4 and yes they are square butts. The model 21-4 is a 44 special with a round butt.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.
Will old pre-war N Frame grips fit on the new 1917 "Classic"
Reason: I have an old pair of 1917 grips. I was thinking of getting a new 1917 "Classic". I thought the old original grips would look good on the new revolver.
I've never really known: are "pre-war" N frames truely different and require differently manufactured grips? I always assumed all N frames were equal (aside from square vs. round)?
Please educate me.
