Default 29-3 Lew Horton or regular?

I ran across a 29-3 in a 3" version. The serial number is ALB52XX. Does anyone know about these and what they are worth. It is about 90% no box or papers. I can not figure if it is a rare production run or not. Thanks in advance for any info.

A couple of guys who own several would like to believe that guns distributed by Horton (just one of many S&W distributors) are of some additional value. The rest of us disagree, and you'll find that selling prices don't support the minority view. Production numbers of S&W revolvers tend to affect prices only of guns with collector interest, which doesn't include most modern guns. I've owned several revolvers from production runs of less than 150, including the 3" 625-6 I currently shoot, but none seem to sell for prices higher than their more numerous siblings. Your best bet for researching sales prices is gunbroker.com. Don't worry about asking prices. Look at actual sales prices.

+1 on what he said plus both Lew Horton and S&W distributed those guns and I haven't seen how many of the 8,000 produced were sold by whom. So unless the Lew Horton revolver has special markings on the gun it would be really hard to tell.

My thinking on the subject is that S&W would fill an order of whatever configuration since the distributor is paying upon delivery. If the configuration sells, then S&W was free to make more for regular distribution. Not a bad marketing plan and we all know that some did well and others not so well. When I was a dealer, I recall a Horton saleman calling and offering the model 24 3" for about $279 if I would take 3 of them... I recall taking that deal and it took forever to get rid of them... So, $279 for 30 years at 5% is $1,205. Is the gun worth that now?
