Default Release Info New 640 with Night Sights & Cyl Cut

Good Evening ...

I'm working with a lady who is leaning towards a Centennial for CCW and in looking over the current S&W offerings I see what would appear to be an excellent choice. In their 2010 catalog (page 52), I find a 640, SKU/Product 178044, described as having a 2 1/8" bbl, dovetail front & rear night sights, and a cylinder cut for moon clips.

Any word on a release date? Are they on the street yet? Has anyone actually seen/handled one of these revolvers yet?

The new Model 43C in .22 also looks like a neat companion/training piece.

Looking forward to learning more.

Regards from Colorado,

Tony

Just talked to S&W yesterday. No release date on the new 640 as of yet.

Default 640 Pro SKU 178044 night sights

How do the night sights appear to the shooter? The web site simply says "night sights" and that covers a lot. Is there a pic available? Thanks.

The new Pro Series 640, with the night sights and moon clip cut out, has no internal lock either! Pictures of the gun have been in the printed catalog for many months. I'd assume it's on their site too.

Looking to get one one of these, S&W might want to get out their 2010 models before ... 2012.

Boy, I'll say! I've had money down on the "new" 632 for nine months now and am beggining to wonder if they will ever hit the market.

It took Smith 7 months to since I ordered my new 442 Pro on 30 Dec 09 to deliverly on 1 Jul 10. According to Helen at Smith, I got one of the first one's produced and they were behind on production. I didn't mind the 7 month went as I didn't leave Afghanistan til the shipped date. Thanks to Helen I was able to enjoy it during my two week leave back home.
