Speer Gold Dot Personal Protection in 125 gr. hollow point. Look at their website for other choices in .357 for short barrel guns if you have a snubbie.

I practice with my 640-1 mostly with 148gr wadcutters and end the session with Remington or Federal 158g LSWCHP+P or the Speer 135 gr Short Barrel +P. I carry all of them at one time or another.

I also have some Buffalo Bore 158 gr LSWCHP+P, but haven't fried them in the 640 yet. .357s are a bit stout for me. I have tried them, but don't usually carry them unless I'm out in the boonies!

I've found these to be sweet shooters in my 15oz J-frame.

Little recoil and POA=POI

LEO guys seem to favor them as well.

I agree. Very manageable recoil (stouter than standard velocity, but not as "sharp" as many +P loads), and they shoot to point of aim.

Find a load of each that shoots:

1. Tight groups, and

2. At POA (Point Of Aim) at your desired zero point . . . and you are good to go!

You'll probably never need your SD ammo for what you'll be buying it for, but shot placement trumps everything else, IMHO.
