Default Loud hammer on 586?

Just got my 586 back from S&W after recall bushing and hammer work. Wow! What fast service!

Now for the quirky part. As most S&W affecinados know, nothing sounds like the smooth rhythmic clicks of the hammer being cocked, and the last almost unnoticeable last click when the hammer falls. Well, after my hammer job, when my hammer falls there is a very disernable "clank" metalic sound kind of like a jail cell door slamming shut. Nothing like the light sound it made before the recall work.

Am I being too picky, perhaps too tight a mainspring that needs the screw tensioner let out a bit, or what?

You may be being a little too picky, but remember they changed the firing pin and bushing on the recoil shield to fix the problem and of course it's going to have a different sound. Plus you havebn't broken in the new parts yet. I'll make you a bet you can't hear the "clank" when you're firing a round. BTW all my guns have a different type of clanging or pinging sound when dry firing, some more, some less, all different though.

I have had a new M22-4 and a M21-4 in the past and they both had that pinging instead of the familar clicking sound. After a while they got better or I got used to them. Both are now gone along with a bunch of others. They were good shooting guns and I am not faulting them but I keep selling/trading.
