629 4" Mountian Gun Unfluted 4" Magna-Port Rare?!?!
Hello, I have a factory 629 Mountian Gun with tapered 4" barrel. Stainless. The difference from all the rest is that it came from the factory w/ unfluted cylinder and Magna-Porting. Does everyone else have one or know the history? Serial number begins with CAP. Thank you, Uvaldi.

Welcome to the forum. A photo of it would probably help.
Is it a 629-2 or -3 or ???

That is one good looking Smith. I like the combo of the tapered barrel and the unfluted cylinder. I would love to know the the recoil is with the port and the weight where it is.

629-4
Recoil is like a puppy dog. But I shoot 12oz .357 and 25oz 44mags with full power loads. Scandiums. I like this gun however, it is 42oz I think. Do you know any of the history? The Serial # begins with CAP. It is not marked Mountian Gun on the side just 44 MAGNUM. Thanks, Uvaldi.

It's unusual if nothing else. I can't say as to how rare it is or isn't.

Factory Magna-Port
Yes, There have been factory releases of the J, L and N frame w/ MagnaPort I know for sure. Maybe others. Mine came with a Magna-Port sticker and sales flyer inside the factory box. Uvaldi.

That's a beauty, for sure. Can't help with any info, but I, for one, like big bore Magna-Ported revolvers.

I have a 629-4 like yours. The SN is CAP55xx, been fired very little but it is a hoot to shoot. The box is not handy so I can't give any factory information. It is a 4 inch, tapered barrel, with porting, don't know if is factory or magnaport, non-fluted cylinder.

Unfluted 629-4
That's cool. I guess I was just wondering how many they made. I have my box someone too I just can't find it. Did you buy yours new? If yes, what year? Thanks, Uvaldi.
