Default Nickel 586 help please

In the next day or two I'm supposed to see a nickel 6" 586.

What are the do's or don't's? Anything in particular to look for or stay away from?

I've never owned a nickel plated firearm and don't have a great deal of experience with Smiths. Thanks in advance for your help.

Watch for any signs of the finish not being firmly attached. Any scratch's which may go through the finish. Dings which may not polish out with Flitz. Then of course the regular points to check on any S&W revolver. I might question the target grips on it which look too new to me. May not be original.

This gun has a little "freckeling" on both sideplates. Do you suppose that's something that will polish out? Does that mean it's destined to crack and peel?

It's a 586, no dash, and S/N starts with AJK.

The back of the cylinder is stamped with the letter N. Does that mean the nickel finish is from the factory?

yes the N stamp does mean nickel factory finish .also look under the barrel it should have a N there and on the grip under the wood grips.
