Default New to the forum...

Hi Guys,

I have been looking into getting back into revolver shooting since I sold my last Ruger, yrs. ago.
I really was never happy with Ruger, so I decided to look at S&W for the first time.
I used this very forum to look up facts on the 686 series and learned alot about what too look for and most imporant, the 86' "M" recall. This would help me very much in days too come.

I called a local shop and they had new and used 686's decided to get a learning lesson.
What in the HECK is that HOLE!!
Long story short and a savings of exactly $250.00. I brought home my first S&W Revolver. A very clean 686-1 6" .357 Mag with a "M" stamped on the frame.
I took the grips off so I could give it a good cleaning and the date April 22, 1987 is stamped on one half. Not sure if this is the birth date, but it has too be close.

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for the great info prior to my 1st purchase.

My name is Jim and I live in the "Live Free or Die" State.
I am married to a wonderful pistol packing Woman, Voting Republican, and I hate Bailouts so I drive a Ford.

Welcome to the forum and the S&W revolver club. I think you'll like that M686.

Thanks Everyone.
There is certainly some interesting reading....

Avery11, I am in Auburn. Just moved here from the coast. I love it! Close to Manchester, but far enough to have ****** cell phone service.
