315 Night Guard 38 Special range report
Well, picked us a slightly used (may have had a box or less through it - salesman said it was practically new - saved $$$ off of the new price when you could get them last year) I am a new member here and this is my first post (other than the intro one). I had a 442 in the past so I was expecting this one to be sweet shooting with the additional 9 oz or so extra weight. This is a k frame, blacked out with the trijicon front sight with 2 1/2" barrel. I shot a little over 100 rounds of three different flavors in it today. After figuring out the sights, I made some reasonable groups with it. The trigger is so much smoother and lighter than the 442 and of course has the option of single action. I am really impressed as it's a good weight for recoil absorption but not too heavy to carry. I think it's 24 oz empty. I understand this one was only made for a year or year and half and not currently in production. I was orginally looking at the 386 L frame 7 shot but the price on this one was soooo much less used. I will attempt to attach some pics too... I used magtech 158 gr flat nose jacketed, pmc 132 fmj, and half a box of hornady 110 gr +P critical defense... Not one misfire (I think some had this problem and the primers looked good). The magtech had a noticable fireball where the critical defense had none and about the same recoil. All in all, I am thrilled with it and also with finding this forum...

Nice score! Good r/r - got any targets that you'd like to post up?
Were you using standard or +P?
Welcome to the forums.

Very nice. That would make a good carry piece.

They're great guns, I have one I got from a forum member a while back. If you like to carry a revolver it is just about the perfect combination of size, weight, and balance. Too bad S&W decided to discontinue it after only a year or so.

The 315NG is probably the most sensiable of the whole lot. I wish I had gotten one while they were still in production, but I've never seen one for sale down here.
If you are going to carry it, I'd really like to know how you feel about it after a few months. It should make a great option.

Very nice! I had a sweet 386NG that I regret letting get away. I'll have another one someday

thanks guys for all your comments. I am looking forward to getting a carry setup for it. Any suggestions for a holster? Method? Anyone shot any buffalo bore heavy 158 lswhp?
