Flitz Polish on Matte Finish
Got out my "Free Samples" of Flitz today & polished up my two 686s. Boy, do they ever shine. Then got wondering if Flitz would be OK to use on my 627PC Matte finish revolver. Did a Search here & really didn't find anything about matte finished guns. Those who have tried Flitz on your matte finished S&Ws what has been the outcome ?

You can use it with a brush to clean it, but putting pressure on it will start cutting the finish, I would treat it like a blued gun and use Renaissance wax on it. Hope this helps .

There is no difference in the stainless steel used in either matte finished or shiny guns. The matte finished are just bead blasted. You can polish them to look like non matte finish but it takes a lot of elbow grease to do it. It is a lot easier to bead blast the shiny guns to cover wear and small scratches. I do this for my dealer and I have also polished some stainless guns also, lots more work.

Some dingbat tried to polish out the turn line on my bead blasted 629 Perf Center. Keep meaning to send out the cylinder to get it re-bead blasted, just got to find someone to do it. It's not too noticeable, but it still bugs me.
