S&W Pistol Cleaning Kit Question.

Does anyone know when S&W stopped putting the cleaning kits in the box with their revolvers?

Somebody out there must know the answer to this, to settle a friendly family arguement.
I say that the cleaning kit was not put in guns produced after 1980. My son says they were still in boxes of revolvers made on into the 1990's. There's a bottle of JD riding on the answer.

Well I can't say when they stopped but they were still in the boxes during the Lear Siegler days so that puts it at least in to the mid-1980s.

Call it a push and split the bottle with your son.
