Thumbs up New snub, Model 36

Recently picked up a new S&W Model 36 all steel snub nose 38special. My first snubbie. I chose the S&W 36 after looking at a 637. The 36 weighs about 5 oz. more than the 637 but fits my pocket well enough without too much sagging. I also have CTS in my right wrist and hand and the 637's recoil was a bit painful with +P ammo. I shot the 36 today and I am very happy to report that recoil was moderate with Federal 110Hydra-shocks, and also with 110 Critical Defense standard pressure. With Speer 125 +P it was a bit more felt and more so with Rem. 158 SJHP +P. I knew I was shooting a +P load for sure but still managed it pretty well. Surprising was the 158 Aguila HP that I had that is supposed to be standard pressure but felt like +P. I was only shooting at 7 yards but accuracy was very good with all rounds but especially the 110 Federal load showing with very tight groups. All in all I'm very happy with my new 36 and while its a little heavier than the 637 for sure, I still find it fairly easy to carry in my pocket and my wrist will thank me later.

My Mod 36 is used for pocket carry also. I primarily shoot standard pressure ammo and the recoil is fine. Funny you should mention the Aguila ammo. I have not shot their .38spl ammo but have shot a lot of 9mm and .45cal, I do think it may be higher pressure and a little hotter than that found from other ammo manufacturers.

Happy shooting and enjoy the 36
