Default Here's hoping

I have been going through gun withdrawls lately having to sell a few things to help pay some bills and to help out for family and all, but if all goes well Saturday I will be picking up a Smith 57 no dash that serial numbers to 1981-1982 (stilled pinned and recessed) with a 4-inch barrel. I can't wait to have it lettered as it came from a constable of a small town in Vermont. It is a shooter only but the action is very nice and I can't wait to work on some loads for it.

Sorry, but this sounds like a terrible idea.

Guns are a luxury, and therefore to be put well behind financial necessities like bills and a 3-6 month emergency fund. The only way I could see this as a worthwhile purchase is if it would be your only firearm and you are serious about daily carry and home defense use.

Otherwise put your money in a money market and start (re)building the emergency fund so you won't have to sell off possessions in case of future financial needs.

I wish you well.
