At least 15 shops in my area do not have the 45acp version 4". I am on the gun hunt of my life!!

I think a few places online have them for about $759 before $18 delivery and my $18 ffl. Anyone have a great source for the 625?

Good luck in your search! $780 for a new one sounds pretty good to me. Found mine used on a local gun board.

Dealer cost on the 4" M625 is right at $750, so $780 is not much of a mark up. The distributor I looked at did not have any in stock. Bob!

Man I like those grips. Where did you get those?

I was at a local shop yesterday and they had a miculek one on sale for $850.

I love the grips and revolver! A 625 will be my next S&W as I love the .45 ACP round and have been lusting after one for a couple of years to supplement my Colt Commander and Springer!

Unbelievable! I found one, but it was the Performance Center version with clown colored grips. They wanted $875 before tax. Uh, no thanks. The trigger was insanely strong before the 'smith turned some screw just a hair. Wow, sweetness. I could go back and ask what he did.
Anyway, the $759 price before $18 shipping and $18 ffl is the best I can find new. May do one more trip through Gunbroker before buying.

Those stocks came from Altamont. N-Round Classic Panel in Silver Black-Chekered. The medalions are $10 bucks extra, but I think an S&W just isn't right without them.

The 4" being legal for competition is a tad harder to find, I had to "settle" for a 5" from a nice gentleman here. I like the round to square Black/Silver wood grips for taking pictures, but for range use, the rubber Hogue's are the way to go. Plenty of recoil.

619's are hard to find too!

I have a 4" JM that I bought earlier this year for what I thought was an outstanding price -- $650. However, the gun had a fair number of problems which I finally corrected only this week by adjusting the barrel cylinder gap (which was too narrow). Now, it shoots amazingly well.

I know that .45 ACP is a "semiauto" caliber, but it performs brilliantly in a revolver just so long as the revolver is correctly set up. My 625JM is among my favorite handguns.

The 4-inch, non Jerry Miculek is indeed hard to find. I've been tracking them for a while, here's what I have:

Smith & Wesson 625 Revolver in .45 ACP, 4-in Bbl. Bluebook of Gun Values (31st Edition) indicates between $480 in 95% condition and $770 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 44 recorded prices for this model gun from $400 to $750 over a period of 7 Yrs 3 Mos ending October 31, 2010. The average price as of that date was $540. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $988.

There was a glut of 5-inch barreled 625s that I believe retarded the appreciation of the 4-inch barreled version. I think that's changing, there are definitely fewer non Jerry Miculek 4-inchers around.

I only saw 2 at the Tulsa Show a week ago. 1 Model of 1988 625-2 for $800 and a 3in 625-4 for $650 that came home with me.

I was in the market for one also. But I wanted one in 45 Colt. I found a nickel special run for $815, and a blued for $780. I have seen several in 45 ACP on the net. They were used ones. Taker a long look around, they are out there. I just think the used ones are overpriced. I Can't see a used one bringing any more than $600. Why buy used for new prices?? Some guys seem concerned about the lock on the revolver. But that is no big deal to me. But then maybe I am ignorant and need to learn something?? I probably do!! Tom.

The 625 is like the 617 when it comes to one being found at a show, those two will be the first to go. happy hunting .

Bought a 625-3 4" at Chantilly show for 775 plus taxes. It's unfired with box. Did I do OK ?

Right now the only 625's being made are the JM and PC models as far as I know. I don't think they were ever a High production item anyway vs 357/44mag so its a classic case of supply vs demand. In my area its been over a yr since I have seen one for sale at a gun show or local shop.

Really ? It was there on Friday and I didn't buy it till Sunday. Seems nobody want them. I was mainly looking for older unfired S&W and also saw a 686 for about the same price. I decided to get the 625-3 instead.

I looked for five years for either a used 25 or 625 in 45ACP with at least a 4" barrel. After finding many of these pistols....all in 45 Colt, and not seeing one in 45ACP, I decided to order this 625-8 PC pistol this year and have been very happy with the purchase. This is the pistol that came with the laminated red, white and blue grips, which I replaced with these American Pride ones.

Indeed, the prices on GB and the like seem to be around $699 and up, and that's before shipping. So in general a used 625 is going for around $60 less than brand stinking new from the best priced dealer (some don't even charge extra for using your airline mileage plastic).

I'm all for buying used when conditions warrant but brand stinking new for $60 is worth paying in my budget's opinion.....then you don't have to deal with the "uh, where is the (insert oem offering) that is supposed to come in the box?"

You made a wise choice, finecognac. The 686 is readily available.

On second inspection, the gun looks like it has been fired with turn mark, although not much. Should never trust the dealer.

Is it still ok price ?

I am the first to admit that overanalyzing is my MO, and then having some buyer's remorse if I did not get a screaming deal. But sometimes the energy saved by NOT looking and looking and searching and driving makes a price paid even better.

You now have a great revolver and the price paid was fair to middlin', but in the world of 625 it's actually pretty darn good.

Aren't they all test fired at the factory? My new Model 21 has a faint turn line straight out of the box.

I have had this S&W #625-3 model of 1989 for about fifteen years, $250.00 lightly used back then. I swapped two Ruger Mini 30 fifty round magazines for the combat stocks. I sure do miss the old days!

So would $750 be too much to pay for this 5" specimen? It is a -3 and I'm online considering it now.

If you can find one for less, jump on it. They are seldom seen in my area. Was glad to finally get mine. Wasn't cheap. I've never been one of the lucky ones on here who makes a steal on really desirable guns.
