629 Talo 3"

Looking for comments from any owners of this model . Local shop sold one new to a non big bore shooter who brought it back the next day and said it was too much recoil for him . I can probably get it for $700 + tax .

Dang, this must be a rare gun because after 60 hits not one reply . ;-)

satinmushroom 11-25-2010 07:45 PM

follow the advice of the guy who took it back - too short for a follow up shot - get a heavy 357 - can i say taurus 617

i've been hunting one. $700. isn't a bad price. do you want a 44mag? you can always shoot 44 specials.

Hey satinmushroom, we are talkin' about REAL guns here--NOT Taurus paperweights........

I don’t understand the TALO part. Is it some light weight material like scandium, titanium or unobtainium? My stainless 629 3” is a pleasure to shoot with all but the hottest of loads. I shoot it at 100+ round IDPA matches with hot 44 special loads pretty often. 3” 44s are a blast!

I don't think the fact that 60 people don't own one makes it rare;-)

TALO is a firearms distributor company and frequently get all sorts of special editions made for them by S&W.

+1

Buy the gun. $700 isn't a steal but it isn't bad either. That makes it just about right.

The rare comment was a joke just to get people to respond .

Looks like it worked. :)

I don't see these for sale all that often, but $700 seems to be a pretty good deal. Don't usually see them that "low".

The 3": Model 629 is a great revolver. The person who returned his after one day (original post ) had no experience with centerfire handguns or recoil, and he picked the wrong revolver to start with. I carried this one as a BUG into serious social situation and a 2nd weapon when hunting for many years. In my old age, I no longer hunt andI now carry a 642 as a BUG.

excuse sir, but what model laser grip do you have there? thanks

I just picked up a 2 5/8" 629. I enjoy it but I shoot pretty light loads in it. I almost got the Talo deluxe edition 3" but opted for the PC 2 5/8"model.

Not a bad price. I got mine new a few weeks ago for $779 + tax. I love it. Just got a Simply Rugged holster for it and have been carrying it quite a bit. Shoots well.

Very Nice guys, a grip can sure change the revolvers character!

If I can find the 3 " talo next year for new, I'll certainly buy her.:D
