Default 44 Magnum Night Guard

Anyone have experience with one of these? If so, what do you think of it?

From what I've heard, read and observed they make a dandy 44 Special but a very painful and nearly impossible to control (quick follow up shots) 44 Magnum.

I have owned both a 386 (357 mag) and a 310 (10mm/40) and had bad experiences with quality on both of them.

They both had finish issues and both had to return to the factory to have a longer firing pin installed.

I did not have any issues with recoil because the grips are full size and good.

The nightguard concept is great; good compromise between size, weight and controllability, but there have been lots of people with quality issues.

My old man has one in 44, and shooting magnums is not a lot of fun. Recoil is pretty stout, and quick follow ups are definitely a challenge. Using 44 special certainly helps in that department.

I like the idea of the NG, but why couldn't S&W have offered this same package in a SS gun? Most S&W junkies have a fetish with 3 inchers, and the C&S sight with the big dot is an awsome idea, but I think a SS frame would of caught the eye of a few more people......who knows....I could be way off.

Totally agree, RightWinger. I would definately be up for a SS version of a Night Guard.

I have two nightgaurds a 315 and 396 and both had firing pin problems( to short) I just changed it with an extended firing pin from cylinder and slide and that fixed the problem.

my 315 ng has been flawless and the fit and finish are top notch.. however, with buffalo bore hot stuff, it's pretty stout so I can't imagine 44 mag will be much fun.... could always use 44 special thought. My opinion is that if you can get one a good bit off retail like I did, they are great guns. Full price is a bit stiff...

I'm not really into magnums so I carry it's little brother - a 396NG. It's very accurate, controllable and I have never had a firing pin issue. It is my most carried CCW (backed up by it's little bro in .38+P or lite .357) I carry DPX in it primarily.
