Here's mine, a 29-6 that I bought in 1995. I actually sold a Colt 80 Series 1911 to buy it. I gave about $435 for it new. I sometimes wish I hadn't sold the Colt, but when I shot this one I'm glad I did. I almost bought a 629 instead. The only thing I have done to it was add a set of Eagle Grips to it.

Here's mine with a current target and some with old targets I saved from 17 years ago when I got to the range more often. The big orange square was 50 yards offhand.

It was my 4th purchase. My first was a old M&P back in early 1992. I later traded it on a 686 6" which I later traded on the 629 Classic. During that time I also picked up a Ruger MK II I still have. I would love to have the M&P and 686 back.

I actually carried the 629 concealed for a bit over a year. Did it "reverse Mexican". That's butt forward, no holster. I did put a flat piece of leather between me and the gun to protect it from sweat and me from chafing.

My collection is so deep now it spends much time in the safe since I have other things better suited to CCW. But if I were ever forced back to only one gun this would be it.

This is my 1980 29-2 with a target trigger and hammer, along with the high polish blueing. It is a pleasure to shoot these old revolvers with the fine S&W quality craftsmanship.

629-3 6 1/2", Ruger RH 7 1/2", 29-5 8 3/8". The Ruger is the one that gets shot. Joe

Here are a couple of mine.
First, an early 1958 4" Pre-29.....and....I couldn't let a thread on .44's pass without the obligatory Dirty Harry 29-2.

Here's the one that gets the nod for hunting at distance. 629-4 Classic. I don't know how this one missed getting a DX tag. This gun places Hornady 240gr. XTP's into one ragged hole at 50 yds. I consider divine intervention was a work when I picked this gun out.

I realize that you asked for magnum .44s, but most of my .44s are Model 24s.

New to me......Just picked this up at the Gun Show. Came with two sets of grips the ones on it and a set of Hogue which are the correct grips for it....I know nothing about this thing so chime in if you know I could use a history lesson. Sorry about the pics took them with my phone. I also have an older 629 8 3/8.

629 8 3/8 My first handgun purchase back in 86.

A 29-2. My only .44 Magnum. Bought this one new back in 1975 (was it REALLY that long ago?). Over the years its served me for deer hunting and many silhouette matches. Its semi-retired now, sort of like its owner.

What's not to love about a 44. I shoot them all but I have shot the most rounds out of the 629PP.

OK 1st up is my 1980 mfg 6" 629, found it new in it's presentation case 3yrs ago. This has become my favorite 44 that I've ever had.

Next up is a 629-3 Classic from 1993, 6.5" and an excellent shooter!

ditto on the 629 pp...mine has 5-6 thousand rounds down the tube...great gun! accurate enough to smack bowling pins off hand with the iron sights at 100 yards.

Saturday I shot my 44sp 696 for the first time. We shoot at about 27 yards. I was not disappointed! With 3"barrel still accurate and very fun to shoot. I loaded 60 rounds and was sad that the box was empty.

Here's more of mine. I remembered I'd saved these targets from testing my cast 240gr SWC over 8.5gr of Unique. Can't wait to chrono them.

The only thing I really don't like is how a year of me sweating on it faded the laser etching.

My "other" .44: Had to go back to S&W for a new barrel (warranty). Now in the shop for a McGivern gold bead front sight.

Here are a couple from my collection. The 29-2 with the 4" barrel is a blast to shoot and far more accurate than I.

Next we have the model 29-10 scroll engraved edition with the 6.5" barrel. This is my Dirty Harry Tribute gun.
