Lady Smith Model 65
I've got a barely used 65-5 LS on hold at a LGS; asking price is $525. I'd rate it 98%, and it comes with the soft case.
Is this the going rate nowadays? I'd prefer to offer $485, or get it OTD for $525.
Either way, it would make a fine carry gun...
Thanks for any advice you've got to offer.

It migh be $50 to high, but when is the last time that you have seen one. You might be sorry if you don't get it.

I am getting one soon and I paid a bit less, yet without the rug and it was on an auction site. I think the 65-5 is fantastic and beautiful all in one K frame revolver. This "LadySmith" truly is a mans gun...

I've never even seen a used one offered for sale here in California. That says a lot about what it's worth. I am still looking for one.
If it had a 3" barrel, it would probably go for $750 easy out here.

IMO the standard M 65 3" is nearing $500 in value so a LS for $25 more? I think so, they are not making any more. YMMV.

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen. Looks like I'm in the ballaprk on price here. I'm probably going to look at it again today and see if the seller will go $525 OTD, which is equivalent to $495 plus tax.

Well, we settled yesterday on $495 plus tax. I will pick it up next week and will attempt to post some photos. Thanks for all of your input!
Next up: carry ammo. I'm thinking Buffalo Bore reduced recoil loads; out of his 3" inch M65, he's getting:
158-gr., 1,172fps, 481 ft. lbs.
140-gr., 1,246 fps, 483 ft. lbs.
125-gr., 1,322 fps, 485 ft. lbs.

This might make you feel better about your purchase of the
65, in terms of what you paid for it. I bought a 65-5LS last week on GB. It had only 50 rds through it. It was originally listed at $575.00, and nobody bought it. He re-listed it at $525, and I bought it. Of, course there are the shipping charges with it, but I feel fine at what I paid. There aren't very many of them, and they are a fine revolver. The shrouded ejector is a real plus in my book.

3" Model 65's
I've got a standard and a LS. I don't think I'd sell either for $500 right now. If I ever had to whittle my collection down to only one gun, one of these would be it.

I had a 65-5 LS and I have a 65-5. Both are 3" guns. I sold the LS as I wanted a carry gun I didn't mind getting scuffed up if it happened. The LS was VERY nice. I sold my LS for $500, last spring and it went fast. I haven't seen another one for sale around here.

All my carry guns sign a waiver acknowledging that they may get "scuffed up" some day...

Well, here she is, sporting some rosewood Eagle Secret Service grips I've had stashed away for a few years. Very clean. A few drops of oil is all that was needed. I also picked up some Buffalo Bore 158-gr. reduced recoil .357 Magnum ammo at Cabela's. Range report is next, within the next week or so...
