Default S&W 325 .45acp Question

Is the S&W Night Guard a round butt N-Frame? If I order grips from Ahrends, is that what I tell him?

Thanks.

Sir, it's a round butt.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Semper fi back at you.

There's nothing about the Night Guard frame that would make an N-Frame round butt grip not fit is there? Thanks. I just bought the gun and have receiveds it yet, but am order Ahrends grips for it. Don't like rubber.

I very briefly put a set of Ahrends on mine - no problems with the fit. Recoil and the hole they chewed in the base of my thumb were another matter...

I loved the look of the Ahrends that came on my N frame 4". Quickly learned I couldn't use them due to pain on recoil....had to resort to the dread Hogues. YMMV.

Default S&W 325 Grips

Good evening everyone. I just signed up to the forum and love reading all the posts. My Name is Gary and after 30 years on the police force I figured it was time toi go and let the younger guys get a chance with police work. All good people. anyway, I just wanted to key in on this post about the S&W 325. For almost 20 of my 30 years I carried a duty Sig sauer p220 and loved it. (anything .45) and always carried a S&W .38 2in on my ankle. About 4 months ago I saw the 325 and had to have it. What a gun..I found out after putting 300 or so rounds through it, it would be my primary carry. I did find the stock grips did tend to telegraph under my shirt when no coat was on . I looked at all sorts of grips and think I found one of the best. They are from Eaglegrips.com and they are the "Secret Service'" Rose Wood grips. Fits so good in the hand and gives you great control. No telegraphing ..under the shirt or very little. I got my holster from Galco and it's right on and very concealable. Thanks for letting me shht the breeze.

Hi Gary. Welcome to THE Smith and Wesson forum. I am a 45 fan too, and I agree the 325 Night Guard is an outstanding carry gun. I put Hogue bantam stocks (round butt) on mine which helped with the concealment. These are definitely round butt guns.

I guess that I'm an exception. I put Ahrends Retro Combats (finger-grooved) on mine, and I love 'em. They fit my hand perfectly, and I've put about 300 rounds through it since buying them. Not a single blister or callous. I used a 250gr SWC in it, and the recoil is a bit heavier than 230 FMJ.

Welcome to the forum.

Default 325 grips

The name of the game here is making your handgun right for you and not the other guy. Whatever you get just make sure it works for you. I seem to have only one problem. being here in Fort Myers and wearing shorts and carring my S&W is a challenge. Gottta keep the pants up, that.s important. G.

I don't own a 325, but do own a 2" 327 which is similar in weight but kicks harder with full-tilt boogie 357 ammo. It came with wooden finger-groove grips which work just fine and don't hurt my hand. I cannot see why a 325 would be all that brutal. And yes, the standard round-butt N-frame stocks should work just fine.

I also wanted to add that I shoot a 629PC 2 5/8" in 44Mag which came with a wooden boot-style grip, exposes the backstrap and leaves your pinky dangling. While heavier, the 44Mag recoils substantially. I find that I can shoot it fairly accurately with the OEM stocks although I've altered my grip technique a little with that particular gun, and if I'm going to shoot more than about 15-20 rounds at a given session I prefer to wear a glove on my strong-hand.

I put a set of S&W Round Butt Checkered Rosewood grips on my 310 Night Guard. I like them for concealed carry.
My 310 Night Guard is getting to be my primary town carry gun also. Light, right length barrel for concealed carry, very good factory trigger. Great sights, loads with moon clips. Plenty of horse power with select 10mm ammo. Also shoots 40 S&W for practice. Whats not to love.

A 325 Night Guard would be my second choice in a primary carry revolver, after the 310NG.

Bob
