Smile My wife's new M351C

I got my wife a new M351C for Christmas. We live in the sticks and crime is high in our area and she's outside a lot(115 acres). We wanted something small and light. The 351 did not disappoint. I installed a set of 405 Lasergrips and zeroed them at about 20 feet. You can hit anything you can put the dot on. Being retired LE, I had no trouble keeping them in the middle on a B27 at 25 yards, although head shots landed in the throat and neck area at that distance. Ammo is abundant and half as much or more, than 380. I'm still waiting on a M43 for a training gun. Bob!

I'm a retired LEO also. I got my wife a 642 LadySmith for Christmas. I put a set of Hogue Bantam grips on it and she loves it.

I really set out to discuss the M351, not Christmas gifts. Its 11 ounces is a joy to pack in a pocket. We had acquired several different 380's, including a Kel-Tec, LCP, DiamondBack, and a P232 Sig. None seemed to fit the bill and were sold to my CC students. 22 Magnum ammo is not cheap, but its a lot cheaper than 380's. I got some Federal 50gr. JHP's for carry in the 351 and I have packed it in my front pocket of my 511 pants. Basically, I wanted to hear from other 351 owners. Add the fact that it's a no lock model, it's a neat little revolver. I'm getting a no lock 340 M&P tomorrow for my use. Still want a M43 for a training gun. Bob!

I think the 351 would make an excellent offside bug, especially in light clothing. The CT grips are perfect on this. I might have to give one a look see.

I looked at one last week and was not impressed. The one I looked at was poorly made and overpriced.

I'm glad to hear you are satisfied with yours. I like the concept of this gun but will have to see if I can find a better example than the one I looked at last week.

I know several people who own and love the 351. I friend has one in each of his cars. He and another friend did action jobs on them and said that they are reliable in spite of the fact that most caution against lightening the trigger on a rimfire weapon. The other issue is that they are extremely loud! I like them and have also considered one.

How does the 351C differ from the 351PD other than it has a concealed hammer and white dot front sight? My wife carries a 351PD daily and loves it.

The problem I have with recommending the 351C to the ladies that I teach is that the trigger pull is rated at 2 men & a small boy. Yikes, it must be at least 14 pounds! I've done an action job, and even with a firing pin that protrudes to the maximum of industry spec, at any trigger pull less than 14 pounds, I don't get 100% reliable ignition. Hard to recommend such a heavy trigger pull to little old ladies who need personal protection, but don't have the grip strength for the 351.

Shows what I know. I thought you were talking about a Ford Modified 351 C. I got to learn the new model numbers.

I've seen of GSW's coming through Emergency rooms, I'm quite confident a center mass hit from a .22 will cause the recipient to pause and consider - then drop.
Only two major problems I see with all that, .22 caliber is rim fired and even though today's factory ammo is better than ever before it's still a risk it won't go bang.

Second issue I see is the smaller the caliber the better you have to be with shot placement.
A .22 will kill you, so will a rock in the right spot. I suppose it's better than a stick, me personally I'm not looking to make the bear angrier at me.

I myself was going to go to a .32 H&R out of a .327 because of the light recoil. Then it hit home for me, I'm not that good of a shot, I might hit the target but a leg or an arm doesn't stop the threat all that well generally speaking.

Then I was back on the .38 kick after I decided no more semi-automatics for me because I don't trust their reliability after having to many range failures with my G39.

The G39 was tough to handle but every time I stared at that .38 it was a far cry from the short stubby .45 G.A.P. round. That no matter where it lands on a person they are going to know it.

What do, what do, then I had an eureka moment and finally discovered my ultimate do everything gun.
We call it BIG Hoss.. (and the beauty is I can even shoot the .45 G.A.P. out of it which means for me I can carry more ammo cause it's shorter than the .45 acp)

Anyway BIG Hoss is in-route. Stay tuned.
