Default Model 66-2 born on date

Hello all...my first post here. I have a Model 66-2, with serial number AV817XX. Can someone here tell me the year this gun was manufactured?? Thanks in advance!

Actually your serial number should have 3 letters followed by 4 numbers, so I am guessing that yours is AVB17XX, which would place it late 1987.

It may well be a letter "B", but the overall stamping is crowded and somewhat difficult to read. In any case, thank you for the info!

Mine is ADT 4648 and haven't seen one like it yet. Any info would be appreciated

ADT puts it in 1984.

Default 66-2,2 1/2"

Mine is 260K7XX I was just about to do a thread on this same revolver. I picked it up in a local Pawn Shop. It has the "F" stamp on the cylinder and a 2 1/2" barrel, round butt. It's about 90% to 95% condition wise. What's confusing me is on the cairn it has the MOD 66-2 stamp but no serial # as with most S&W's. No box or paper work. Also what would be the ball park value?

I got a 66-3 serial number BBV44**. Gun is in perfect condition, but no box etc.
