LCR and finish peeling?
I have a 642, and am worried that someday the finish will peel. Does anyone out there have a LCR? Any problems with the LCR's finish peeling?

I have a LCR and I have had no problems with the finish. It has had only about 100 rounds thru it but it is carried often.

I have the LCR .357 and no peeling here either. But I've only had that since August.

No peeling. EDC and still looks new. Don't worry, it's a great gun.

My carry gun, since August '09 has been an LCR. I don't baby it. One of the reasons I got it was because I didn't want to worry about the finish. Heck it's a Ruger, right? Anyway, no signs of peeling or even noticeable wear so far!

I have carried a 642-2 for a few years now and there are some wear spots on this fine revolver. If you want a gun to stay cosmetically perfect, leave it in your safe and wipe it with a silk cloth once every four months. I personally see no problem in a purely cosmetic "issue" with a carry revolver, after all it's purpose is to perform not to win a beauty contest.
Too often I read posts from people concerned about scrubbing the living hell out of their guns (to the point of damage) and sending a handgun back to the factory because there is a wear mark in the finish after a year of carry, to that I say relax. Safe queens are just that, working guns are not what they look like, but what they can do. It would be a better use of time looking for cheaper ammunition to do more shooting then fretting over a cosmetic blemish.

After 5000+ rounds through a test sample, cleaning every thousand rounds, no damage to the grey on the cylinder beyond the turn line.
It's a tough finish.

All of them will lose the finish if you carry them .
