Default .327 federal Magnum "Real Numbers"

I have a stainless 632 3" power port .327 that i have been shooting the **** out of. Its an accurate powerful little gun and real easy to shoot. I am shooting all of the factory loads, 2 of which (federal Am Eagle 100gr. jacketed soft point, and speer 100 gr. gold dot) are listed as having velocities approaching 1500 fps and energy of 500lbs. Even the 115 grain gold dots are at 455 foot pounds. The Federal 85 gr comes in at about 370
These are awesome numbers coming out of a compact six shot easy to shoot package even if they are just close to the real velocities. Anyone have any knowledge or experience reagrding the real numbers??

I checked six rounds of Federal American Eagle 100 gr. from a 3" power port. All were over 1500 fps:
1536
1524
1546
1527
1549
1552

I will eventually get around to checking the other rounds.

The ballistics on the majority of that caliber ammo caught my eye about a year ago, and you have one more round more than a J-frame. I predict that maybe it will be the .380 craze of 2011. 26

Default .327 Federal

Thanks for the info. I agree, if people try it they will see that it really is a viable alternative to the .357 in terms of energy. I use it for hiking and plinking.

I know there is the crowd that says its an answer in search of a question but i don't agree.

I wish S&W would start producing the 2-1/8" barrel they have had listed for so long. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it.

Been waiting for it, too. I don't understand why it's not out yet.

I am also waiting for the hammerless version to hit the street, followed by a K frame.

Good question, one I have been asking myself quite often since I've had money down on one at a local shop since April of last year. When I ordered it the S&W web-site noted that it would be, "Available summer 2010."

Maybe, just maybe, they will make it by the summer of 2011

When I ordered it the owner of the shop did say, "This will be a tough one to get." Boy was he right....
