Default m638-2 question

Are all 638-2 bodyguard airweights +p rated? I believe -2 was the change to the magnum frame. However, I saw a picture on another thread of a 638-1 that had +p stamped on the barrel. The one I am looking at (638-2) does not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Smith & Wesson stamped "+P" on the J frame barrels for a while and then stopped. So, some have that and some don't. As far as I can tell, all model marked .38 Special guns are approved for +P use. If you're not sure, you can call Smith & Wesson and they can tell you for your specific gun.

If it has the "step" in the frame below the cylinder your good to go.
