Default Help with value M 10-9 Hong Kong Police

Although I've enjoyed reading many sights on this forum, this is the first time I've been motivated enough to ask the knowledgeable members for their insight. Earlier today I saw a S&W M 10-9 at a local gun shop. It was stamped RHKP on the backstrap, and had a lanyard loop attached to the butt. The gun appeared to be very clean with minimal blue wear. The timing was perfect and the bbl. was clean. I would guess the condition to be about 95% +/-. It was a consignment gun, and the asking price was $300 - with tax and Brady, it would be about $350 out the door. The owner said he would present my offer of $250 and call me back tomorrow. Sorry, I don't have a photo. I would use the gun as a shooter, even with its unique (to me) heritage. What do you feel it is worth? Thanks in advance for your replies.

The days of nice cheap K frames are about over, I would buy that one! I have a 10-7 RHKP that is a nice shooter and I enjoy the fact that once upon a time it patrolled the streets of Hong Kong. Let us know what happens!

First, welcome to the Forum.
I agree that $350. is reasonable. I have a 10-7 RHKP in just fair shape and I gave $365. for it a couple of years ago.

I'm a third that says $350 is reasonable. The fact that a gun is stamped to any Police force does not necessarily add value - except to a collector of police weapons. While one doesn't see Honk Kong marked pistols in their local shops every day, there are quite a few out there. What you'll be buying is a good, serviceable field gun.

I bought one about eight years ago for my wife. It's one of the most accurate revolvers we own. The grips were in rough shape, so I dolled it up a bit for her with some faux ivory.

I got out the door for under three bills, but considering the time that has passed since then, you're still getting a good deal.
