Default 627 8 shot with a barrel longer than 5"

Do they make a 627 8 shot with a barrel longer than 5"?

If not, why not?

I believe they have made a few 6 inchers but not as a cataloged item. My memory is saying that member SmithNut has posted photos of his.

Why? Who knows but my guess would be that, especially in .357, shorter barrels sell better.

They made at least one and maybe a few with the 6" slab side barrel. Jerry Michulek used one several years ago. I have a magazine article somewhere with the details. Several months ago, someone here on the fourm asked about one he found for sale, but I don't recall if he managed to purchase it.
