Default S&W 27 FBI Commemorative - help

I will try this again - I have a friend, retired FBI that has two S&W Model 27 FBI Commemorative pistols unfired. SNs are FBI 35XX and FBI 21XX.
5" bbls in wood boxes as new. S&W letters with them.

Would someone provide information on these revolvers on background, production levels and ballpark values. He does not have plans to sell them now, but may sell later.

I don't have my trusty SCSW handy, but I believe there were several thousand (3 or 5?) in 3.5 and 5". They are more valuable with documentation that an FBI employee owned them. I recall seeing ones without such a history sell in the $750 range NIB, but ones with an FBI connection are less commonly found and sold. Hope this is helpful.

Wink

This revolver was only offered as a 5"

The run was commissioned by the FBI Ex-Agents Association. 3200 revolvers were produced.

The FBI Ex-Agents Association only offered revolvers to Active or Retired agents. As with all rules there were a few exceptions where revolvers were offered to LEOs working with the Bureau.

There should be a packet of paperwork with the firearm if you are acquiring it from the original Agent.

That envelope contains the letter describing the revolver along with the other paperwork

Value is a subjective thing. I have recently seen them offered from as low as $750 to as much as $2,400. As already mentioned, GB has one at $849 right now.

Again, thanks folks - well covered. He has two sons, but neither appears to be very interested.

Default S&W Model 27 FBI comemorative

I am a retired Agent and have subject revolver, Agents had the opportunity to use their credential number as the serial number. Perhaps the revolver with a copy of a portion of the credential would add to the value.
