Default How to properly grip my new 686?

Sorry, I used the search function but had no luck finding any related threads even though I'm certain they are out there.
Anyway, my question is as stated, how do I grip this Model 686 "L" frame .357 Mag? I'm used to 1911's in single action and I think I've got that down pretty good but this revolver is much different.
It would be great if someone out there has a picture of what it should look like.
With my 1911 the first thing I do for a proper grip is to shove it high up in to my hand, Do I do the same thing with a revolver? I tried it but it feels very unnatural.
How about my trigger finger? Do I use just the front pad on my finger to pull it or do I shove my finger all the way into the trigger guard?
I'm just trying to learn here folks so please take my question as a serious one.

I dont think there is a "proper" way. All varieties of guns feel different and everyone has their own preference. I hold my kimber the same as my revolvers and the same as my XDs. The difference in frame size and shape may require slight modifications, but the basics are the same. I still use the same part of my finger for the trigger. Whatever is comfortable to you and gets the best shot placement is the proper way as far as im concerned.

Seriously buy allot of ammo and figure out what works best for you. All guns and shooters are different make sure and use 357 & 38 at varying distanced.

Generally speaking you want your hand as high on the grip as possible. The weak hand fingers should be wrapped around the strong hand fingers in the front. The thumbs should be pointed forward with the strong hand thumb on top of the weak hand thumb.
The grip is very simalureto a 1911 just the grips shape/size is much more important/can affect the shooter more than with an auto.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot. Where do I place my weak hand thumb? On the frame, under the cylinder?

I had a 'smith install the "Jerry Miculek trigger spring kit." I ordered it from Brownells at the suggestion of a friend. It did reduce the pull on the trigger and it did something else. When I squeeze the trigger back it wants to pause just short of the break. I kinda like it because it tells me when I'm at the breaking point, is that what it's supposed to do?

That is normall as long as it is not too much of a pause. It aids with accuracy when double action shooting. You are pretty much staging the trigger to fire. The other technique is to pull completely through the trigge and time the break with the sigh alignment. Again, this is more for the games.
Your weak hand thumb will be under the stong hand thumb along side the cylinder. I have big hands and my weak hand thumb can be as far forward as the front of the cylinder. I have to be mindful to pull it back as you know when the first shot goes off and your thumb is out there with all the gas hitting it.
