Default Model 28 Barrel Lengths

Hi guys,

Were there any 3 inch barreled Model 28's made by the factory - even if just developmental?

Regards, Racingsnake

Only heard of 4's and 6's. Seen a few custom lengths, but not factory variations.

Of course there were some 5" M28s made, but very few. IIRC, a couple of dozen for the Florida Hwy Patrol and a few others as salesmen's samples.

Actually it was 25 of the 5" bright nickel made for the Florida Hwy Patrol. The other 54 so called salesman samples were not salesmen's sample at all as far as I know. These were the brushed nickel and were all 4".

The book says, "Fewer than 100 reported as manufactured with an 8-3/8" barrel." There is a picture of a long barreled M28 on page 196.
Also, "A few (5) reported made with satin nickel finish, reportedly as a sales sample for Adolph Blaick Inc."
Does anyone know how many fewer than 100? And who or what is/was Adolph Blaick Inc.?

There's a picture in the SCS&W 3rd ed.

Sorry I said "a couple dozen" when the number is "actually 25".

If you look at my post, you'll see I was talking about 5" barrel M28s, not necessarily nickel finished ones, certainly not 4 inchers. The OP was asking about barrel length, not finish.

From time to time I have heard of some 5 inch "salesmen's samples". This talk may be referencing the "sales samples" made for Adolph Black. I'm not inclined to split hairs if someone insists there is a difference between "sales samples" and "salesmen's samples" ...
