Who's got the cheapest practice ammo to feed this M57?
...41 Magnum Target... I don't reload. Just want some good target loads with out breaking the bank. (yeah, I knew the ammo was going to be pricey!)
Thanks!

You might want to start thinking about reloading. Using ammoengine.com, it only produced 11 hits on .41 mag ammo. The cheapest ammo was $1.03 per round. None of it is what I'd call target ammo. Remington used to make a 1000 fps lead SWC load years ago but I don't think it's in production any more.
You could pay for some reloading equipment pretty quickly at that rate.

I just purchased my first S&W M57 in 41mag and i also purchased 1 box of Cor-Bon hunting ammo that was $33 and 3 boxes of the federal ammo that was $23 a box. I think that sportsmans guide may of had some cheaper prices on it too. I'm also having a hard time finding new brass for the 41mag too. I just ordered 1,000 leadcast bullets and now i'm looking for the brass. Bill

Inexpensive .41 Ammo...
Geogia Arms has some very effective pricing on .41 Magnum ammo...
Georgia Arms - .41 REM MAG
And you can buy in bulk. This is good ammo.

Just fired a couple cylinder fulls of the $23 a box of 50 cast stuff from Ga Arms. It is fun to shoot. I bought it at gunshow and they said it was a cowboy action shooter load ... around 800fps.
The hotter stuff is "out - not in stock".

One thing is certain, the price of ammo keeps going up, some calibers more than others. As a retiree, I can't afford not to reload.

I like to reload the cast bullets for target shooting and save the jacketed bullets for carrying. But i do shoot some jacketed at the end of my shooting the lead cast just to keep the feel of the magnum charges. I hate wasting the jacketed bullets on paper. Bill
I just ordered 200rds of 41mag from GA. Thanks again Bill

I have shot both. The GA stuff is mild to say the least. The BVAC ammo was much more fun to shoot. Why have a .41 if all you shoot are CB caps? Wait for the BVAC to come in, then practice with ammo that makes you remember why you bought a .41 Magnum. FWIW

Why is the 41mag ammo and the brass so hard to get???
I like to practice with the lead cast to get use to the new caliber then start using the full power loads. I hate to waste the jacketed bullets on paper targets too. While shooting my redhawks in 44mag with cast bullets i then run some real 44mag loads thru it at the end of our shoot so i still have the feel of the full power loads. Plus my accuracy has improved in practing with the leadcast first then going to the magnum loads. Bill

I know you stated you don’t reload but I want to throw it out that you really should consider it. You can stay simply and cheap in loading your own or go plenty nuts if you get into it. I was terrified to load my own and now I smack myself for waiting so long to try. It isn’t nearly as Greek as some think it is. I doubt I’m the only one here that would be more than willing to walk you through as often as you need it. See if you can find a copy of the ABC’s of reloading and page through it. It over explains a lot but it will tell you everything you need for a basic starting point. And then you will only have the cost of components to worry about. And that is a lot less money than factory ammo.

If I may add a comment about reloading...
There really isn't much need to buy a brand new press. Its really hard to wear one out (I've only managed to neglect the one we bought back about 1971 to the point where it needs to be lubed.) Even when you get to the point where you want a turret press or a progressive, there's no reason to sell off the old one. I've given away two presses to friends, and another to my oldest son. It gets them started and they don't have any excuses to not get started. Dies can even be purchased used (but take along an experienced reloader when you do that.)
I've also bought under priced presses at various places. Gun shows are a good place, so are ads in the local paper. The most unusual was at an auto swap meet up in Springfield, Ohio. Of all things, it was a theme meet with International Scouts the main focus. I was walking along and saw a big chunk of styrofoam with a press handle. I asked and was told it was for bottling soft drinks of some kind. Guess Lyman branched out. Anyway, it was a complete outfit, but no dies. He wanted $25 for the entire thing, so I paid up and we took a walk out to the parking area.
If you do yard sales, keep your eyes open. Anything that suggests someone was a shooter or hunter should bring up other polite questions. Quite often some old coot like us here has passed on. The widow and adult kids have no interest, so the stuff goes to waste or even gets tossed. Its a dream come true when the widow takes you to the basement and tells you some low ball price just to get it out of there. Happens more often than you realize, just not to you.

You can get into reloading by watching for sales and clearances at Shop Shooting Supplies | Reloading | Gunsmithing | Hunting gear — MidwayUSA They have great prices on the LEE dies which fit the rcbs rockchucker press too.
I load for 357mag, 44mag, 45acp, 308win, 6,5mm swede, 7mm mauser, 30-06, 444 and 38 special/44special at first, with the RCBS rockchucker press & dies. Since the LEE dies are more affordable over the rest. After we ran 5k of 308win thru the $9 LEE RGB dies without a hitch/problem i was convinced the LEE stuff is great. I purchased the LEE dies for all my calibers that i was missing just to have them inhouse. With the high cost of ammo i figured that someday the cost of reloading would skyrocket too.
Right now i have 4 presses setup. I use two rockchuckers for resizing and two smaller LEE presses for decapping(1) and the other one for seating. I also have a LEE pro1000 setup for 45acp but i need the die plates to setup my handgun calibers next for it. If you shoot alot of one caliber the lee pro1000 is the way to go. Bill
BTW; Some of my presses were given to me used with no wear at all on them. I got the rcbs press, the lee pro 1000, a lead furnance, bullet molds, case trimmer and powder scale for free. I wouldn't be afraid of the used stuff at all.
Back in the 70's my 45acp cost me only 2 cents per round to reload, bullet & powder & primers. Times have surely changed but so has the cost of new ammo too.

The problem with .41 Magnum is the cost of the ammo. If you want to save money, start reloading. I can tell you that the cost of it is why I see 50 round boxes of Remington here for $65-
I picked up a box of 500 210 grain SWC's that cost me $21 new. Between the brass, the primers, and the powder, I load them for half the price of factory. I see alot of used .41 Mags for the simple reason the owners don't reload, don't use them, and then sell the gun for taking up space.
Set of Lee Dies $25
100 Remington cases $40
1000 primers-$30
Pound of 2400-$20
100 215 grain SWC's from Montana Bullet Works-$25
Being Able to have ammo onhand whenever you want-
Priceless
