Default First post... question about S&W 500 value?

Hello S&W Forum!

My father handed down a S&W 500 Hiviz. He knows my wife and I are working on our concealed weapon permits so he gave it to me to sell so we can buy some smaller hand guns. We're actually looking at buying a pair of S&W Bodyguard 380s.

My dad said he has no idea what the 500 is worth, he just bought it several years ago as a "showoff" gun, not to fire it. I know if I were to take it in to a pawn shop or gun store I will net less than trying to sell it myself.

I opened up a Gunbroker account and listed the 500. It's unfired, it's the Hiviz model, 8 3/8" barrel with the factory hard case, interchangeable compensator, paperwork, etc. Also selling it with an Uncle Mike's Sidekick case and two boxes of Corbon ammo (one box of 275 gr DPX and one box of 440 gr).

I started the auction at $700... just checking to see if I am asking too much, too little, etc. All I can find is that budsgunshop.com sells the gun new for a little over $1k. I'm new to the firearm world so not sure how much guns depreciate over time. Thank you for your advice.

............sounds like a good place to start. Being as it's unfired, to anyone looking for a shooter, it's a new gun. Anyone that knows their value, will know this is a good price.
