Holster recommendations for 329PD 4"?
I'm in the process of trading my 629-3 with a 6 1/2" barrel for a 4" 329PD. Since it's been almost 20 years since I last bought a holster, I no longer know who makes the good ones now. Used to Galco and Bianchi were the best.
So what do you guys recommend for the 4" 329? I plan to both CCW the 329 plus carry in the field while hog hunting.
Thanks,

See holster section for some ideas. I don't carry mine concealed, as it is an N-frame, but I do carry it in the brush a lot. I live in a fairly wet climate, so I prefer a non-leather top-flap holster.

I've got a custom made Andrews Leather holster that was for the 329PD I no longer have. It's a great piece that is pretty much new. They aren't cheap though. If you're interested, pm me.

DeSantis Dual Angle Leather Holster
Sweet comfy holster! Goes strong side or crossdraw, but not exactly a CC rig.

Bianchi #111 Cyclone. Always there, always reliable, and always rugged. Won't work too well for CCW, but, ATV or on foot, when the mini rhino's are out, and on a HEAVY leather 1 3/4" belt, it can be your best friend.
N frames for CCW, hmmmmmmmmmmm. Been there, done that, along with 2 1/2" Pythons, Detonics, Colt lightweight Commanders, Colt Govt. Models, S&W large frame 3rd, generation weapons.
And yes, even one of the very first M-629 3". Yeah, the bad guys tried a drug rip when I was carrying that one. They were impressed, and I am not deaf, and didn't have to make a mess on the headliner of their car. They went to jail, and I wasn't relieved of my life, and $40,000 of state money.
But, even a 26 oz., 4" barrel N frame is a royal pain to conceal. I guess if I going to carry the beast concealed, it would have to be in a pancake. Now that I think about it, I had one of "Roy Baker's orginal pancake holsters". If I remember right, he coined the name "Pancake" holster.

I have a Bianchi 111 (7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk). One thing I don't like is that it does not cover the rear sight. Adjustable sights are the most fragile part of any handgun! Otherwise an excellent holster, that does both strong side and crossdraw.

When I lived in SE Alaska, I had both a 4" and 6.5" M29. Stainless wasn't available quite yet, and I was darn glad to have a full flap Safariland holster for some protection there where it rained constantly.

I just purchased a Galco D.A.O. holster for my 329PD. Can use either straight or cross draw. Fit and finish excellent. Great for field use but prolly not the best for concealed.

Check out Kramer Handgun Leather, Inc. I have a belt scabbard horsehide holster for my 329NG (2 5/8" bbl.) and find it pefect for the woods (city carry would require a light jacket to conceal).

Thanks! Although I'm partial to leather, does anyone make a kydex holster for the 329?
Furthermore, is the 4" barreled 329 any different than any other 4" N frame S&W revolver? In other words, can I use a 29/629 4" holster for the 329?
Thanks for the patience with the newbie questions.

The 329PD is a 4 inch N frame. They all use the same holster.

I just bought a Desantis Speed Scabbard for my M25. Seems like a very nice holster and I was quite surprised to find how close it holds the big N-Frame to my body. I really like how it covers all of the gun, leaving only the grips exposed. This will give it excellent protection in the woods when I'm not using my flap holster.
For field use it hard to beat a flap holster. I'm a die hard leather fan and have found Triple K's flap holsters to be excellent. I've got two of them and IMO, that are on par or superior to my dad's Kramer that cost twice as much.
