Default FACTORY INSTALLED BARREL - NEW

What is approximate cost for new barrel - MOD 686 - SS - .357 - 6"? What is most popular barrel length - 4" or 6"? I have other pistol/revolver choices for carry.

I don't remember what the barrel cost me when I had my 586 done.
I think it was around $150.00 +/-.
A call to the factory would probably get the exact info. that you want.

What length do you have now?
It may be easier for you to trade for the one you want instead of waiting months for the factory to finish yours - they are busy and have long wait times right now.

The question of 4" or 6" can only be answered by you.
"Which one is better or more popular?" is a Chevy vs. Ford argument.

Thanks for reply. Good point re: Factory wait time. My revolver has 6" barrel...which is on original Blue Box. Might just go with 6" length. This 686 "Shoots" where-you-point-it! Also very smooth, not heavy trigger. Retired Lawman friend says - "...shoot double-action". He carried 4" S&W revolver most of his career...plain clothes. He still shoots that revolver each week at range.
