Default new classic 14-8

Does anyone know if the new 14-8 is drilled and tapped? I called Smith yesterday and although the customer rep tried to help, she really didn't know.

Mine is. Picked it up, new, three weeks ago.
Tried to find a nickeled model, but all I could find was blued.
I just bought mounts, rings and 1.5 to 4-power scope, all made by Weaver, from Midway. With my week-long Birthday Discount and shipping, the total was $250.
Midway sells the mounts and rings as a package. A good idea.
Haven't mounted the scope yet. Been cold, windy and snowy here in the desert of northwestern Utah, so I haven't even fired my new pistol yet!
I'll use the scope to reduce shooter error as I seek the best load for my K-38.
I want to find a load using a 158 gr. lead semiwadcutter at about 900 to 950 fps, that can put all bullets into a 3-inch circle at 100 yards. This kind of load would be best for the desert roving that I do.
Once I find that load, I'll remove the scope and mounts and return to iron sights. The K-38 in a shoulder holster, with three speedloaders in reserve, will be an excellent desert roaming gun.
I don't hunt, so I have no need for major power to kill animals, except as a last-ditch act.

If you carefully remove the rear sight you can then see if there are drilled and tapped holes underneath. These can also be seen from the bottom of the topstrap when the cylinder is open.

What shoulder holster are you planning on? I'm considering one for my K-38.

Thanks! Now I can put my order in. Seemed a shame to drill a "real" 14.
