Smile Smith Model 696

I knew these guns were out there somewhere but hard to find and was able to recently purchase one. Can anyone help me with information on date of manufacture any manufacturing changes and general information? My serial number is CBT 02XX. No dash in Model number.

Your 696 was shipped in 1994, don't go by manufacturing dates.
If you have a no dash it has a hammer mounted firing pin. The dash 1s have frame mounted firing pin and MIM hammer and trigger.
Nice 44 specials.

The 696 is one of the few Grail guns I haven't pursued, they're beautiful and awesome but the prices have just gotten insane. Maybe someday. My gun pusher snagged one a couple years ago and lets me fondle it now and then, but apparently that's as close as I'm going to get to owning one. They sure are pretty, but even moreso to those of us with a passion for three-inchers!
