Finally going to buy a second S&W revolver I have been shooting mostly 1911's in 45acp. So I have plenty of components for the 45. That's what dictated the cartridge, plus I'm retiring the 1911,can't bend anymore to chase brass So I'm looking at the Performance center 625. I expect they are ready to roll right out of the box correct? How's my choice and can you suggest any other Smith? The gun is intended for plinking and informal matches and who knows if I'm any good.......... Thanks

You should be good to go out of the box. would suggest that you replace the factory firing pin with an Apex extra long firing pin and use Federal primers which will allow you to obtain a lighter DA trigger pull.
The " triggers " are one of the highlights of owning a P.C. Smith, I have a 44 Mag 629-4 PC. Single action fire is something you have to experience to believe.

I totally agree. I have the 357 TRR8 PC and SA is but a breath of air... smooth and silky 2 stage DA... Can't imagine doing a thing to it to change the action.
BTW, the 625 is super, super nasty awesome. I want.
Yea I can't wait! Got a couple of firearm goodies that I am selling ,should go out Monday. Then a call to Buds gunshop to order the PC 625. How's 200gr lead SWC out of this gun. I noted in the above answers that Fed primers are a plus. All my primers are CCI. I use them in my custom single action Rugers without any problems, hopefully my luck will hold!
