Getting back into shooting after 25 years
Recently got back into shooting after 25+ years & have really enjoyed it.
Wife thinks I'm nuts of course.
I bought a S&W .357 model 66-1 in S/S at an auction &
Dad gave me his S&W .357 combat revolver model 19-2. Shot it the other day at the range.
They made me run FMJ .38's through it but whatever....I bought a cleaning kit & cleaned her up yesterday.
Now I still want a semi-auto (S&W of course) so I can brush up on that.
SO...here are the targets I shot. They were shot at 35feet & 40-45 feet. Think I did ok?
Yeah, some groups were way off, but I think (imho) I did ok considering.

Nice guns...Are those Pachmayr grips? The standard Kill-Zone for CC in most states is 12" x 18" when firing for qualification (3 & 7 yds)..I think you did alright...

The grips are Hogues.
Given that you have been out of shooting for 25 years, you could sure have done worse.
You surely know that these guns are capable of much greater accuracy. If you try them out on bullseye targets shooting single-action, you will be able to refine your skills and realize the guns' accuracy potential better. But you seem able to hit someone across your living room under combat conditions.
Your wife is wrong. Welcome back to the world of shooting!

Yes, they are Pachmayr grips.
3 & 7 yards? .....whew, well alright then. I'll keep practicing at my current range then hone in on the 40-50' mark for "target" purposes.
This Wednesday, I'll try out the 3 & 7 yard marks. Be nice to get those perfected, assuming that those are the standard ranges where the Chit hits the fan?.

OK.well see, I don't even know my own grips
I did try single action & your right..it was easier.I was focusing on my trigger pull & breathing being that it is a revolver & not a semi-auto.
I've a ways to go!

You are off to a very good start with a 66-1 and a 19-2, both in 4". In my estimation, those are among the best for someone wanting a handgun to just shoot 38 Special in.
Sounds like you are shooting at an indoor range. My next guess is that you live in a big city. Do some checking for a Club with outdoor range facilities. I am sure you will like shooting out doors even better.
Now for a few range buddies to shoot with. Enjoy shooting, now that you are back at it.

That's a great pair of revolvers to get back into it with. The fact that your Dad gave you the model 19 makes it the one you will never want to part with, no matter how many S&W's you acquire. And you will acquire more, especially if you hang around here.

Welcome back to the addiction and to the forum. Those two guns are as fine as you can find anywhere.
You get the rust blowed out of your pipes and those guns will provide you with many hours of enjoyment and take care of anything that comes down the pike if they are needed.
Enjoy yourself and see if you can get the main squeezed to join you.

I live in B-F-E actually Just didn't feel like getting my guns wet right off the bat.Between the snow, rain & freezing arse temps.
There is an outdoor range just 15 miles from me which requires no membership or sponsor.

An in- home combat situation....they gotta get past my x4 dogs (Rot, Boxer , crazy lab & poodle)...at the end of them would be me w/the Mossberg 500A & a chamber full of 9 pellet 00 buck.
I call it the "3 a.m." Eyes don't have to be open, just listen-point,pull.....later!

Well, your targets look way better than mine after such a long layoff. Welcome back, and have fun with those fine pieces.

OK, ADDICTION????? It happened yesterday. Yep, I'm now screwed. Bought a #5906 at an auction while trying to also obtain another 66-1.
Flew to the range and sent 100 rounds down the line and was cheezin' the whole time
So I spent $440 on her, but well worth it.
