Mint Model 940 Value?
Hello everyone I just joined this fourm. I have a model 940 I bought new in the early 1990's I have the receipt but did not look for it. I know they were only made from 1991 to 1998 and are hard to find. I have only fired this revolver 2 or 3 times round count 100 to 200. I have been thinking about selling it. What would be the best place to sell for the most money? I have looked on line for the last couple years and only seen a few for sale and they were $600-$700. I have everything that came with the gun and have 28 moon clips I got from S&W when I bought the gun.

Three years ago, I bought two Unfired, three inch, In the Box with papers and tools, 940s for $350.00 and $325.00 apiece.
I bought them a month apart, one from a gun shop and the other from a friend. One of those deals you just fall into.
Both are Safe Queens, I'm saving them for my oldest two granddaughters sixteenth birthdays.

The place to sell it to maximize what you can get out of it is one of the on-line auction sites, like G.B. My guess is that you could get $650-$700 fairly easily.

You got quite a deal thats about what they sold for new in 1991.
The 3" model was only made in 1991 and 1992 so they are harder to find.

Lol I thought you meant 28 were included with the gun when you bought it, that makes more sense. You had me thinking S&W was cutting a few corners on todays guns.
