Default 629-6, Don't Tread On Me

Hi everyone, I just purchased this out of a freind of my wifes Estate. I can't find any info on the web, are these Etchings done by S&W or by an aftermarket source.

Not sure if it is factory or not, but it looks cool.

It is a fate, no it is the real McCoy. The work was done by Smith & Wesson.

I realize this is an old thread, but for anyone interested in the "Don't Tread On Me" laser engraved Smith revolvers, they were a special run factory-etched by S&W for Lew Horton back around 2005. There were 686s as well, and perhaps other stainless models.

I usually don't like engraving, as it seems to be too much, but this revolver is tastefully done and is nice looking. A sweet pair of grips would really set it off.

I was also going to say that the OPs pics show sideplate seams that virtually dissappear into the frame.

The sideplate on my 686 didn't come out nearly as well...

I know, I'm late to the gun show but I had a 686 back in the early 90's. I kick myself every day for having sold it

I pretty much hate markings added to a gun, but this is OK. I wouldn't mind having it at all.

My Brother had a 686 back in the later 80's or early 90's. Not sure what DASH it was. It was a 4" Barrel and it had the Don't Tread On Me snake/text and other laser engravings on it. He bought it from a gunshop in Florida

He sold it when he got marred and we never found another one afterwards. Been looking to replace that Smith for a long long time.
