Default Quick Advice Needed

Have a chance to pick up another 586 no dash, (blue finish of course,) or a 686-1 stainless. Either gun is in excellent condition, no box or papers. Will be a shooter, and I've always been able to keep the stainless better looking in condition of finish.
Same price out the door. What would you do? Both are four inch barrel.

Stainless for just the reason you stated. MUCH easier to keep it clean and/or return to factory finish. Simple buff and scratches go bye bye.

I only buy stainless now, for just this reason. YMMV.

I have both stainless and blued guns and I shoot all of them regularly. I like the looks of blued steel but, honestly, stainless is easier to keep clean and blemish free. All of my blued guns have worn areas, most commonly at the the tip of the barrel and on the cylinder faces. When I clean my blued guns I always face the same dilemma: how much effort do I put into removing carbon deposits. I know that I can remove the deposits, but at what cost to the blued finish? That's not a problem with my stainless guns. I can scrub them as vigorously as necessary to render the surfaces clean and have done so for years.

When in doubt, buy both. They won't get any cheaper.
