Default Worlds most expensive J frame

It belongs to me. I am sure you guys get tired of all the great pawn shop and gun show buys you know 27-2 3 1/2" perfect condition for $400.00 that type of thing all the smokin deals the rest of us never fall into. So I buy a 649 no dash with some funky plastic fake ivory grips and the hammer won't stay locked back for single action. I paid don't know why my brain must have been shut down at the time an astonishing $350.00 USD
for a gun that won't work in single action so I send it to S&W and of course it needs a new hammer and trigger to the tune of $128.00 so now I got $478.00 invested in a .38 spec J frame that needs a set of grips. So everyone who has ever made a dumb gun deal feel better I have now topped you!!

BT,

I will find out in a few weeks if I did something similar.Traded a NIB Mdl #57 6"(IL) blue, for a 29-2 4".It works, has a great trigger/action but has some cylinder issue that needs attention.Sometimes you just have to have something that is not such a good deal to temper the screaming deals.

Don't beat yourself up, down here, a decent 649 will go around $450 to $499 so you seem to be ahead of at least the Bayou State.

Then there is the other side of the coin. I bought a model 65 a long time ago before I had what little gun knowledge I have3 now. They wanted $379.00 for it with the original box. No tools, no papers, with Pach's Grippers on it. I picked it up, looked at it all around. I cocked it, then gently let the hammer down. As I gained knowledge, I kept checking things about it that I had never even heard of, like, BC gap, carry up, timing and such. As far as I can tell I got SUPER lucky, in that it is smooth and shoots like a dream. It is probably the handgun that I will keep as long as possible.
Now, this M37 on the other hand.......................

Peace,
gordon

I thought I was going to see an engraved gun when I opened this
thread.

Dude, if you have less than $500. into your 649 you are still ahead.

Don't fuss. It'll be O.K.

I am starting to feel a little better!! If you see a overpriced 649 for sale in the near future you will know why, I plan on keeping it as it is my only J frame in a small collection of smith's as I like to say I go for Quality over quantity that is my way of saying I cant afford more of them I have one of each size other than X frame. 27-2 3 1/2" is my N frame 3" 686 CS1 is my L frame, 2 1/2" 19-3 is my K frame and of course my 649 J frame

I just bought a 649 no dash 38 spec. yesterday from a private party for $400. Must be the going rate! I felt it was worth it to get a stainless steel instead of aluminum frame. It was a little grubby but cleaned up real nice with a little Mothers Mag Wheel Polish. It will last forever and always look nice. Can't wait to shoot it...........................

Unless you intended to try to re-sell it quickly, think of it long-term. That might help.

If you end of owning it for the next 20 years, any buyer's remorse that you may feel now will fade, and you will forget all about that as the years go by. All that will be left is your enjoyment of owning a well-made handgun.

Just trying to inject some perspective, and as always, I'm always looking for that silver lining....

While it's at the factory, have them add some new grips to the bill and be done with it.

Talking

With every deal we do the more knowledge we have and hopefully the better we do. I for one know that once in a while even after acquiring the necessary information that we still are capable of making a bad decision as I know I have.

I paid almost $900.00 for a SW 360PD. Sold it a year later, and I could only get $500.00 for it...

...add me to the list as well.
