Default M67 front sight question

I have the carry comp version of the M67PC with a dovetail Trijicon front sight from the factory. I much prefer a gold bead or light pipe front sight so I contacted S&W for advice on a replacement.

This is their reply: "That gun has a .343 height front sight. I believe the dovetail cut is a 3 gen pistol cut"

With that info could anyone help me with a purchase recommendation?

I would contact Dawson Precision. I am sure they can fix you up on a front sight. Post, Gold Bead, Fiber Optic, or Tritium.

The Gen 3 they are refering to is the older Stainless Steel Generation 3 semiautomatic. Apparently the PC uses the same front sight.

The other measurment is blade height. It looks to be about twice as tall as a normal 1911 front sight.

I would talk with Dawson on the phone. I just went to their web site. I did not find a listing for Gen 3 S&W sights. There is a very good chance they will make one, if it is not a common dovetail size. You might need to mail it in, to get it right.
Up Date: I looked on Midways web site. Looks like a very good chance it is a Novak Dovetail cut, which would be 65 deg X .330. That is a standard 1911 dovetail, but you will need a taller sight than standard. Call and talk with them.

Bob
