Default Performance Center 629 - anybody got any information on one like this?

I’m going to try and get one of these through my Dealer. Not sure if he can swing it or not, but he’s going to try.

Obviously, it’s a Performance Center version of the 629.

I phoned S&W but it’s hard to get precise information. The fellow I spoke with did his best, but he just didn’t have all the answers. Obviously it’s ported, and I was told it had the extra detent cylinder/yoke lock up and the Performance Center action/tune job. The scope rail apparently comes off if you don’t want to use it so I assume the barrel is just drilled and tapped like the 629 Classic is. It looks like it still has that stupid lock, and I can’t tell what kind of hammer it has.

Does anybody have one of these, or know somebody that has one? I’d sure like to talk to somebody that’s handled one, or better yet shot one of them.

Sir.
I have been looking at one like this.
It is a PC 629-6. Has most of the same feature you mention, no rib and a shorter barrel. 2 5/8 inch.
I have not found a reason to want it bad enough yet. I have been reading the SCS&W and there seems to be many variations of PC 629.
Most are one piece barrels and have a good action tuneup done to them.
I did buy a PC 625-6 and I am very happy with it.
